Firefly-Melaka Air Tawar Penerbangan Guna LTAM Bermula 11/11/11

MELAKA, 11 Mei (Bernama) -- Syarikat dari ibu negara, NN Flyers, yang bekerjasama dengan agensi kerajaan negeri Melaka, akan menawarkan penerbangan ke tujuh destinasi bagi sektor dalam negeri, Indonesia dan Thailand menggunakan Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Melaka (LTAM) di Batu Berendam di sini sebagai hab bermula November.

Ketua Menteri Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam berkata NN Flyers memegang ekuiti 90 peratus, akan bekerjsama dengan Yayasan Melaka, yang memegang saham 10 peratus.

Penerbangan akan menggunakan pesawat ATR-72 yang disewa dari Syarikat Penerbangan Firefly.

"Sebagai permulaan sebuah pesawat akan disewa dengan kos bulanan kira-kira US$190,000 dan penerbangan sulung syarikat yang dikenali sebagai Firefly-Melaka Air itu dijangka bermula pada 11 Nov 2011 (11/11/11)," katanya kepada pemberita selepas mempengerusikan mesyuarat Exco di Seri Negeri di sini.

Beliau berkata penerbangan yang merentasi tiga negara itu akan melibatkan penerbangan ke Medan, Pekan Baru, Padang dan Pelembang di Indonesia, Hatyai di Thailand sementara dua destinasi dalam negeri ialah ke Pulau Pinang dan Kota Baru, Kelantan.

Penerbangan bagi laluan tersebut ialah dengan kekerapan tiga hingga empat kali seminggu dan harga tiket penerbangan akan diumumkan kemudian.

Mohd Ali berkata perbelanjaan kasar keseluruhan bagi sebuah pesawat itu dijangka mencecah RM800,000 termasuk gaji bagi kru penerbangan serta kos lain-lain.

Dua syarikat penerbangan iaitu Wings Air dan Riau Airlines yang menggunakan perkhidmatan LTAM ketika ini, menawarkan khidmat perjalanan bagi sektor Pekan Baru-Melaka-Pekan Baru dengan kekerapan penerbangan tiga kali seminggu.

I bet it will never happen. Remember about the silverfly Melaka - Medan flights? Now firefly. Subsequently butterfly"lah" dragonfly"lah"

I don't think Firefly has a hand in this, let alone will allow them to name the airline Firefly-Melaka Air

They already have their hands full with opening up their KUL & JHB hub.

For all the good that he's done in Melaka, Ali Rustam might want to consider this a miss. He seems to be trying hard to make use of Melaka airport, justifying the millions spent on the upgrades. Started with heavy lobbying to bring carriers to melaka, has now culminated in a formation of a JV airline.
